Yesterday I came across this great post from Bobbi’s Kozy Kitchen. She already posted this article in January, but I recently found it on Pinterest. I thought it had some great advice in it, so I wanted to share it with you.
I’m sure most of you have a pretty extensive spice collection. A large spice collection always comes in handy while you’re cooking. But organizing and storing these spices can be a challenge. That’s why this tip might come in handy.
DIY Spice Jars
A lot of people buy spice jars from a store. You can easily save yourself some money by making them yourself. I promise: it’s not that hard.
First of all, you need some empty jars, preferably all the same size. Empty baby food jars are perfect, but you can use any size you want. Just make sure they can easily fit in your cabinets or drawers.
First of all we need to make sure these jars are clean. I prefer to clean them in the dishwasher: the inside will be spic and span and any label that was still on it will come of easily.
Finding the right spice can be a hassle, but Bobbi has found a solution for this problem: chalk board paint. Paint the lids with this special paint and let them dry. At this point you can use chalk if you don’t want permanent labels on your jars, or a white paint pen.
That’s it! Your brand new spice jars are ready. As you can see it’s very easy and a fun project to do with the kids.
